If you’ve recently gone through a breakup and you’re finding yourself scrolling through old pictures and texts, I want you to stop right now and instead scroll through and save these he’s not worth it quotes.
Because, babe, he’s not worth it.
Do you know who is worth it? You.
You are worth it.
You are worth loving.
You are worth fighting for.
You are worth the flowers. The time. The effort.
You are worth it all.
And him? Oh, he’s not worth it.
But how do I know?
Well, because you are here and questioning if he is worth it. That tells me everything I need to know.
How to Know If He’s Worth Fighting For
I am going to be really blunt with you because you need it.
If you are here, he is NOT worth fighting for.
You wouldn’t be searching around Google looking for answers to “Is he worth fighting for” if deep down you knew in your heart that he was.
His BS is not worth your time and energy, girl. YOU are worth that time and energy.
So, how can you tell if he’s worth fighting for then?
He’s only worth fighting for if he’s not making you feel like you need to look up that question. If he is making you feel doubtful and insecure (hello, red flags), I am just going to say he’s the wrong person for you.
But if you must, here are a few reasons he might be worth fighting for (and I say might very loosely):
- He takes his mental health seriously
- He rights his wrongs
- He is kind and respectful (especially when it counts)
- He takes personal responsibility for his actions
- He is truthful (omitting the truth is still lying)
- You feel safe around him when he is angry
- He holds and respects your values
I’d say those are the big ones and the best signs of if he is worthwhile.
If you feel icky after reading that list, I am willing to say the “he” you are thinking of is not worth it, my friend.
Great love won’t make you feel that way. True love would never.
If He’s Not Worth It, How Can I Move On After the Breakup?
He might not be worth it, but that doesn’t make the breakup any easier.
If anything, from my experience it makes things even harder.
A breakup is easier when there’s a real reason behind it, but when he’s just not enough for you and not worth it, I have found it hits even harder because you are forced to let go of all of the “what ifs”.
I left my ex about five months ago now and that was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done because to do so, I was forced to choose myself.
I had to leave all of the what-ifs behind.
I had to say goodbye to the person I thought I would retire with. The person I never thought I would ever say goodbye to.
But it was a choice I had to make for my own well-being.
He wasn’t treating me right. He was hurting me in ways that I didn’t deserve. He just wasn’t enough for me.
So I ended things. Didn’t hear the rest of it. Walked away.
Man, it hurt. It hurt so bad I legitimately felt like I was dying at times.
That first month, it took everything I had to get to bedtime each day. I had nightmares almost every single night. I fell back into every bag coping mechanism I had.
Then it all turned around when I realized (thanks to my best friend) that I had left in order to choose me, and asked myself “Why am I not choosing me right now”?
Today, five months later, I have completely changed my life around. I am an entirely new well-rounded person.
It felt like a long time at the moment, but looking back now, it all happened so fast.
I quit every bad habit that was holding me back. I started taking my mental health even more seriously. I started at the gym. I started choosing my well-being over any and everything else.
During that time, I learned a lot.
Here is what will help you move on after a breakup:
- Unfollow/unfriend and block on social media
- Block their number
- Delete all of your text threads
- Delete all of your pictures/videos/screenshots with that person
- Get rid of all of their things/things they gave you
- Block them on Facebook memories
- Write letters to them every day in your notes app until it hurts less
- Vent to your friends
- Embrace the sad but set a timer and shut it down when it goes off
- Read books with happy love stories to get you out of your own head
- Make a list of dreams and goals that don’t involve them
- Make weekly “me time” a priority
- If needed, get back into therapy for a bit (no shame in it)
- Start a hobby you’ve always wanted to try out
- Spend some good time with your friends and family
And most importantly, breathe. Deep, deep breaths.
But those tips should make getting through the breakup easier.
Another thing you can do is invest in the He’s Not Worth It Journal. I’ve heard wonderful things about it! It’s full of good stuff to help you work through the breakup.
