I’m a big believer in baby led weaning, but that doesn’t mean I totally skipped over purees when introducing my twins to food!
It is absolutely possible to do baby led weaning with purees. I had a lot of fun doing so with Kendall and Caeden, with special thanks to brands that put our babies first like Beech-Nut® Naturals™.
You can imagine the number of brands that I go through as a twin mom. I am always trying new things with my twins; trying to find their likes and dislikes. Something I have come to find time after time is that Beech-Nut® Naturals™ foods are always a success whether they eat them on their own, or as a key ingredient in an easy to make recipe.
Beech-Nut® Naturals™ makes it their goal to be as close to what you would make at home as possible.
That means their purees are filled with the good stuff we all want our littles to take in, especially when first introducing them to foods!
But as we all know, sometimes textures can get in the way. A big part of me deciding to hop on the baby led weaning train was because my girl twin, Kendall, wanted nothing to do with purees. She would just let them flow right back out of her mouth. But give her a pancake and the girls day was made!
In comes baby led weaning with purees!
This was a super easy way to get both of my twins to eat what I wanted them to, all while exploring real foods and textures.
I had such a great experience introducing baby led weaning with purees to my twins, that I talk it up to all of my friends.
Recently, I worked with Beech-Nut® Naturals™ in hosting a mommy get together where a handful of friends, their littles, myself and my twins spent an afternoon outside playing and snacking on three different snacks perfect for baby led weaning with purees.
I used three of my favorite Beech-Nut® Naturals™ purees to make up three different baby led weaning snack items.
Apple Banana Cookies (made with Beech-Nut® Naturals™ just apples, one jar full of water or breastmilk/formula, one medium ripe banana, 1 1/2 cup of oats and 1/2 of flour. Everything combined, scoop spoonfuls onto a cookie sheet and bake for 15-17 minutes at 350 degrees)
Sneaky Veg Pasta (made with Beech-Nut® Naturals™ just carrot, corn & pumpkin and one box of spiral mac and cheese made without the butter)
Green Banana Pancakes (made with Beech-Nut® Naturals™ just peas, green beans & asparagus, jar full of water or breastmilk/formula, medium ripe banana, and one cup of pancake mix. Make as you would regular pancakes, but mini!)
Each of those snacks were perfect when my twins were starting out with solids, and they are still a hit at 18 months old. All of the littles at my mommy get together snacked on them.
Beech-Nut® Naturals™ inspired by homemade purees are the perfect addition to your baby led weaning lifestyle. They are 100% natural, with nothing artificial. What else could you ask for?
