With summer coming in full swing, I wanted to add in some new kid-friendly recipes to our grilling routine, and out came some creative hot dog recipes!
I’ll be honest. Those four words are not something I ever thought I would say. I mean, how much can you really do with a hot dog? I’m a pretty basic ketchup, mustard, and relish kinda gal and haven’t explored much beyond that.
But when diving into what kid-friendly ideas there are out there, mostly so we aren’t only eating plain hot dogs all summer long, I came across a handful of creative hot dog recipes for kids and I was sold!
This post is sponsored by Fred Meyer and QFC, however as always, all opinions made are mine alone.
Summer time grilling
I don’t enjoy much about summer, to be honest. I am a PNW girl through and through. I love my rainy, wet days and anything over 75 is not for me. But one thing I do truly enjoy about the summer months is the ability to enjoy meals as a family outside & make up fun grilled dinners.
My twin toddlers are like most toddlers and LOVE hot dogs, which led me to look up creative hot dog recipes. I am all for making up meals I know they’ll for sure eat, but come on. You can only have a plain hot dog so many times before you’ve had enough!
I was happy to find so many creative hot dog ideas and when I pitched my idea to my favorites over at Fred Meyer and QFC, they were all in!
Their Private Selection All Beef Hot Dogs are some of my all-time favorites. They also have been working towards expanding their vegetarian & vegan offerings by putting out varieties of Simple Truth plant-based proteins, including sausages! I figured including the Simple Truth plant-based sausages inside of this post surrounding creative hot dog recipes would be a slam dunk making the recipes perfect for multiple lifestyles.
My goal with this list of hot dog grilling ideas for the kiddos is to provide ideas for the upcoming Fourth of July holiday, summer season, and camping season! I’m sure each idea will serve as a fun & new way to make up the summer staple.
