DIY Coffee Recipes
Anyone else missing their coffee stand coffees right about now? I hate to admit it, but I am absolutely addicted to coffee stand coffee, and at home coffee just ain’t the same. It doesn’t hit the spot like a large iced caramel white mocha drink from anywhere but at home does.
But since we’re all quarantined at home, I figured what a better time than any to master my coffee making skills. I’m still craving a large drink from a coffee stand, but these recipes have been holding me over in the mean time.
Let’s start off with the obvious. You’ve seen it circling around the internet. Whipped coffee. Rumor has it whipped coffee is a knock off of a South Korean or Indian delicacy, but we’re just going to call it whipped coffee for now.
If you haven’t tried it, all it is is 2 TBS of instant coffee, 2 TBS of sugar, and 2 TBS of HOT water whipped together until peaks form like whipped cream. Then you top the mixture over milk in ice. Now everyone seems to be making their own variation of the drink, adding vanilla syrup or caramel, but that is basically the gist.
Now I have tried it. A few times actually. And it is ok. It is super strong and bitter, so if you like your fluffy coffee drinks you might want to add more sugar and flavor, but it’s ok.
Now as far as other DIY coffee recipes go, I do have a favorite. At least so far.
And it is super simple. Not necessarily cheap, but it is cheaper than my daily Starbucks, Dutch Bros, Black Rock or Insomnia habit.
You’ll need some milk, Starbucks Caramel Macchiato creamer, Starbucks Unsweetened Iced Coffee, Ice, good caramel sauce and your cup.
Scoop in some ice, pour in some iced coffee, then some milk and a few TBS worth of the creamer before topping with dizzles of caramel sauce and BAM. Super easy and yummy DIY iced caramel macchiato tasting drink.
I know, I know. A lot of us are Starbucks haters. So while my recipe is simple and delicious as far as at home DIY coffee recipes go, you might be turned off because it has Starbucks ingredients.
If you want to make your own cold brew, check out my post here for a super simple way to make it with what you already have at home.
Here are a few other recipes I’ve been trying and loving I found off of Pinterest.
