I am all for DIY’s.
Especially around the holidays.
I typically make up a dollar store DIY holiday wreath each year, but this year I have come up with the ultimate hack.
I got the idea from my mom. In early fall, she made up a wreath for me while she was watching the twins one night. She decided to make it the easy way, and simply cut the stems of the flowers and foliage so that they could we stuck into the wicker wreath without needing any hot glue.
Smart move.
One- no mess by doing so.
Anyone else hate hot glue gun strings??
Two- now you can REUSE the wreath!
The wreath itself did not come from the dollar tree, but they do sell ones similar. Instead, she found the wicker wreath at Goodwill and simply dismantled it down to it’s bones.
Then when I decided to start decorating a little bit for the holidays, I decided to grab some farmhouse style holiday decorations from the dollar tree and go for it.
So far, so good. My dollar store DIY holiday wreath turned out just as I hoped, and I can easily transform it from a holiday to winter wreath come January. With no extra costs!
Here is exactly how I put the DIY holiday wreath together.
Dollar Store DIY Holiday Wreath Tutorial
First, I pulled out all of the flowers and a few bits of the foliage that were laced through the wreath.
Next, I used wire cutters to snip all of the stems. I did leave the wire on the back of the bow, and string on the bells so that I could use those for placing the decorations on the wreath.
Then I started with the silver foliage and wove the wire stems through the wicker wreath where I thought they looked good.
I did the same with the flower stems.
After I found where I liked the flower stems, I pulled two out from each side and slid the twine from the bells on the stem and stuck the stem back into the wreath to hold the bell in place.
Finally, I added the bow to the middle by wrapping the wire around one of the wicker branches.
I absolutely love how it turned out.
It went from fall to holiday in literal minutes.
You have got to try this dollar store DIY holiday wreath hack!
But first I have to know. Do you guys put your wreath up first, or your tree? I am a total wreath FIRST gal.
