Who is looking for the easiest homemade stuffing that is actually GOOD?
I’ve been on the search for years, girl. I actually hate stuffing. It is never made right. Either it’s too soggy or too dry.
Okay, maybe I’m just super picky about my stuffing.
But hey, today I have for you the BEST and EASIEST homemade stuffing recipe you’ll ever read. Seriously. And it includes bacon. Yum!
I started making it for the holidays a few years back and my family constantly requests it.
How is it just SO easy?
It’s made with a box mix!
Well, a box mix and a few extras.
But the box mix is what makes it so simple. No drying out bread in the oven or overnight. Just a box mix that is ready to go!
Then you add a bit more liquid, precooked bacon, and some diced apples into the mix and you have a crazy yummy side dish perfect for any holiday gathering.
A crazy tasty dish that absolutely no one can pass up. Even those stuffing haters like myself.
Here is just how to throw together the easiest homemade stuffing.
First off, you need the right box mix. I prefer a cornbread stuffing for the base. I think it adds in some of that extra flavor that regular stuffing lacks and is just straight up tasty.
Then you’ll need some chicken stock, a pack of precooked bacon, and a green apple.
For a recap;
Ingredients:
- 1 Box Store Bought Cornbread Stuffing
- 1 Box Chicken Stock
- 1 Package Precooked Bacon (chopped)
- 1 Green Apple (diced)
Next step on your way to making the easiest homemade stuffing– checking out how much liquid to use for the box mix.
I always add a 1/4 extra. So if it says 1/2 cup of chicken stock, I say go with 3/4 cup of chicken stock. I’ll even top the mix once its in the pan with a bit more liquid if it isn’t looking moist enough.
Yep. I said moist.
But it really is the best way to describe how the consistency of the stuffing should be.
Sorry if I made you cringe!
But back to the stuffing- add the extra liquid.
Trust me, it goes over so well.
Then throw in the chopped bacon and diced green apple, mix up and pour into your baking dish.
And bake for the recommended time from your box mix and you’re set!
Talk about the easiest homemade stuffing recipe, right?
I didn’t even tell you to get the stove top filthy by making your own bacon.
I’d call that a win of a recipe.
Try it out and let me know what you think!
