We as moms spend a lot of our time thinking about food. Not just for us, but for our littles and what is going to be best for them.
And frankly, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by it all. Especially first thing in the morning when all you want is your coffee to be hand delivered to you.
So, let’s forget about those Pinterest Perfect meal ideas for a minute, and tune into some realistic breakfasts for one-year old’s that’ll get you by.
Not only that, but these four meals are naturally sweetened by honey, and feature gut health friendly yogurt!
If you didn’t know, easy meals are what I am all about. As a mom with twin toddlers, I only want to hear about meals I can make quick with ingredients I can snag at my favorite local grocery stores.
And meals that I also find delicious are always a plus, which is why I thought these four breakfast ideas were a great choice!
That is why today, I am partnering up with Fred Meyer and QFC to share with you four different and realistic breakfast ideas for one-year old’s.
I love working with Fred Meyer and QFC because they are my real life go-to grocery store. I have always loved the atmosphere of shopping inside of the stores, and the Kroger stores always offer the absolute best food selections.
Not to mention they offer Clicklist, which is hands down my favorite grocery service. I love being able to grocery shop from my couch and know that I am still going to be getting the same great quality foods that I would otherwise snag for myself in-store.
So, when it comes to buying foods for my twins, especially for easy to prepare meals, Fred Meyer and QFC are the place to shop!
For my realistic breakfast ideas for one-year old’s, I ended up sticking with a key ingredient that most of us keep stocked in our homes. Cereal!
I snagged Kroger brand Honey-Nut Multigrain cereal and Peanut Butter Multigrain cereal, along with a few other (easy!) ingredients and got to work.
My four easy to make and realistic breakfast ideas for one-year old’s?
1. Cereal Parfaits (aka, minimal prep work and made with high quality food from Fred Meyer and QFC)
Needed:
½ cup Simple Truth Vanilla Yogurt (great for gut health!)
½ cup Kroger Honey Nut Multigrain Cereal
Handful diced fruit (I choose strawberries and bananas)
To assemble:
Layer yogurt, cereal and fruit.
There you have it!
2. Yogurt Covered Cereal Bites (second easiest!)
Simply combine ½ cup of Simple Truth Vanilla yogurt with 1 cup of Kroger Honey Nut Multigrain Cereal and then spread on parchment covered baking sheet, stick in the freezer and enjoy frozen!
3. Chocolate Peanut Butter Cereal Bars
Needed:
½ cup Simple Truth Peanut Butter
1/3 cup honey (awesome natural sweetener!)
2 cups Kroger Peanut Butter Multigrain Cereal
Handful of Chocolate chips
To make:
Combine peanut butter and honey in a medium sauce pan (or small if you want the mix to get everywhere like I did) and heat on low. Stir constantly until fully combined.
Then remove from stove and mix in cereal and chocolate chips until combined
Spread mix in baking dish lined with wax paper and stick in fridge for a minimum of 30 minutes before serving. Makes 9-12 bars. Store in fridge.
You can also heat mixture in a microwave safe bowl in the microwave for 15 second intervals.
4. Peanut Butter Kitchen Sink Cereal Bars
Needed:
1/3 cup honey (again, an amazing natual sweetener!)
½ cup Simple Truth Creamy Peanut Butter
1 cup Kroger Peanut Butter Multigrain Cereal
½ cup Simple Truth Quick Oats
Handful of chocolate chips
Handful of raisins
To Make:
Combine honey and peanut butter in a large microwave safe bowl, then microwave for 15 second intervals, stirring in-between, until fully melted and combined
Add remaining ingredients and stir until combined.
Form into 1 ½ inch balls using your hands, and place on a wax paper topped cookie sheet. Should make about 12-15 balls.
Stick in fridge for a minimum 20 minutes to form before serving. Keep in fridge.
