An Amazon Baby Registry is the optimal option for every expecting momma out there!
Out with the old days of going to a store and scanning items you don’t even need. In are the days of online comparison shopping so you can buy the BEST of what you want!
Amazon makes baby registry’s a breeze, IF you know how to use the service for all it is.
”What do you mean? Don’t I just click ‘create’ and add everything I want to my registry?” Well that is where you would be wrong!
Sure, creating and adding items is the biggest part of your registry. I mean, you DO want people to buy stuff for you. But don’t you want FREE gifts from Amazon as well?!
When I created my Amazon Baby Registry, I had no idea I could get free stuff, OR that my entire registry would be 10-15% off closer to the babies due date! I would have put a lot more of what I needed to buy myself for my twins on there if I would have known that!
Instead, I went in blind and didn’t end up using the registry for all it had to offer! I am here to help you NOT make the same mistake I did.
Follow along for a step by step guide, including visuals and links, all about how to create your Amazon Baby Registry!
How-To: Amazon Baby Registry
(and make the most out of it!)
Step #1: Click on this link to get started on your registry
If you do not have a prime account, click here to go ahead and create one today! Using a Prime account for your registry will result in up to 15% off your entire registry near your due date! Follow along for more of how that works.
Step #2: Fill out the registry basics
When filling out the basics, make sure to use the name your friends and family know you by. The name you include at this step is what your registry will be saved under on Amazon.
Once filled out, scroll down and create your baby registry.
Step #3: Check out your registry home page
Now you will see your open registry. Amazon probably added a few items for you, so go ahead and either keep those or select delete if you already have them.
From this page, I suggest clicking on all of the links and reading about your registry. It should show how many weeks you have left (AHHH), and you’ll also find an ideas list area, as well as a share my registry feature.
Now lets dive into the next (and most fun) step!
Step #4: Add items to your registry
This is where I messed up my registry! Notice at the top of your registry, there is a drop down menu to check the status of your welcome box (I.E. FREE STUFF!). Click on the drop down and you’ll see three things you need to do before you can get your free baby items-
- Sign into (or up for) Prime
- Finish checklist
- Purchase $10 off of your registry
So if you haven’t already- sign up for prime!
Next, look to the left of your screen and find the registry checklist and click on it
The trick here is to make sure you put something from each category into your registry. I just scrolled through these sections and found random things that I wanted but didn’t necessarily need so that I could complete this step for my welcome box!
Once you have added items, the category will ‘check’ itself. So just go through each category and sub category and add items you need for baby (or don’t need, just want 😉 )
Step #5: Sign up for your welcome box
I don’t have a screen shot of this (because I am not making a real registry) but as I remember, after you have completed the three steps mentioned above, the status changes to green and you’ll be able to click on it. From there it will redirect you to fill out and ‘purchase’ the welcome box.
Don’t worry, they won’t charge you for the welcome box. It is $35 of free baby items!
Step #6: Fill your registry with everything you need
Now is the time to add everything you need to your registry. Not sure what all you need? Go ahead and check out my necessities post for baby items to get started.
My post is twin related, but you get the idea of what all you actually need for baby from it. All of the items on my above mentioned checklist I do actually own and have used for my twins.
Also check out my post for what all I have loved during the first three months with my twins. It does include a few things not mentioned on my registry that I purchased myself!
To add items to your registry, all you have to do is search for them on the regular amazon baby page!
Don’t forget to add items you think you just might need as well. When that discount applies to your registry, you might change your mind!
Step #7: Share your registry
Now that your registry is complete, go ahead and share with friends and family using their quick links!
Also- don’t forget to include a link to it with your baby shower invitations!
Step #8: Wait for completion discount
Once you hit the 60 day till baby mark- your registry is 10-15% off!!
YAY DISCOUNTS!
This is the time when you should browse through your registry and buy any items you still need at a killer price!
Also- keep an eye out for how much has been spent on your registry. You might become eligible for free diapers!
Step #9: Enjoy the rest of your Prime Subscription (and baby!)
I hope this checklist helped you create your perfect baby registry and you got the most out of Amazon! Let me know if there are any other questions you might have about creating a baby registry on Amazon.

Amazon truly has everything! I was surprised as well! I didn’t even know about the freebies until another mom pointed them out after I had created my own registry and was near having my twins. I hope my how-to guide helps you with baby #2!
