I was only excited for two things about the twins turning one.
Cake and pictures.
You’ll have to wait until next week for the cake; this post is all about our donut grow up first birthday photoshoot.
I wasn’t originally going to go with such a mainstream theme. I liked the idea of different. So I went unique for their actual birthday party, but mainstream for the professional pictures!
Donut grow up is just TOO cute!
I browsed Pinterest for a good month looking through all of the other mama’s adorable ideas for the first birthday photoshoot. It was so hard to pick an avenue to go with! The DIY donut wall was my favorite. However, it is also pretty spendy to make. So I opted with something else.
I was going full cheap and easy DIY for the twins first birthday party, so I decided to swing that way for their photoshoot as well.
This started with a simple, DIY’d sprinkle sheet for them to sit on.
Here is the run down of how I created the sheet.
The end result was pretty damn cute, if I do say so myself.
My idea for the sheet was to lay it on the grass and top it with a borrowed crystal cake stand that I would tower small and large powdered donuts on top of.
Then onto outfits.
Since they were going to be munching on super messy powdered donuts, I decided to keep them pretty bare. Not only did it help clean up, but it kept the budget pretty low too! SCORE!
For Kendall, I choose a white diaper cover, sparkly skirt we received at their baby shower (that really, where else would she wear that thing? LOL!) and then a few cheap necklaces from the dollar tree that matched the colors of the sprinkles painted on the sheet.
Then for Caeden, I really wanted to do more than a diaper cover but it didn’t happen. I thought a baby bow tie would be adorable but I didn’t purchase one in time for pictures. This led to us trying to make one of dad’s work but, nah. Didn’t end up happening. Diaper cover and that’s it!
That is pretty much all that went into the pictures. I happened to find a small #1 balloon at the Dollar Tree and ended up sticking that into the pile of donuts. Then our photographer had a cute wooden prop that we wrote “donut grow up” on and used that as another photo op!
Here are some of the best pictures from the twins donut grow up first birthday photoshoot.
Go ahead and pin your favorites for later.
I hope you found some inspiration and would love to hear your thoughts on our donut grow up first birthday photoshoot!
