Anyone else turn to Pinterest in order to find great gift ideas?
I am usually pretty good with coming up with ideas for friends and family, but my husband on the other hand? Forget it.
All he wants are crazy expensive gifts and that is just not in the cards for us. But while browsing a few weeks ago, I came across an idea from Pretty Providence that I fell in love with. DIY treat slippers for men.
Essentially, a gift basket for men. A simple one that they will LOVE because it’s filled with their favorite things!
I decided to take a spin on Pretty Providence’s idea and make it into just that. More of a gift basket. But inside of some slippers.
I honestly think it is a brilliant DIY gift for men because it could go for any age. Your husband, your dad, your son. My husband lives in his slippers at home, and Christmas is usually the time that we refresh our slipper collection. So why not make them into some DIY treat slippers?
I say why not.

It was actually so easy to put together, it’s almost ridiculous.
All I did was think of a few of my husbands favorite things. Well, that would fit inside of slippers. I also gave myself a budget because honestly, this idea could get way out of hand.
But it could also be really cheap!
I ended up somewhere in the middle. I spent about $40 on the goodies that went inside of the slippers. I could have gone a lot cheaper, but I could have also easily spent over $100 on the DIY treat slippers.
Here are a few ideas for you:
First off, grab a pair of slippers. There is an awesome selection on Amazon you can check out and read some reviews. Or just head to your local Freddies or Target. Whatever works for you!
Here is the Amazon shop link if you’d like to look there.
Then we have three options; cheap, modest, and over the top.
Let’s start with cheap.
For the more inexpensive slipper idea, head to your local dollar tree or similar inexpensive snack shop, and grab some goods. Favorite snacks, new cotton gloves, maybe a Coke, holiday candy. You get the picture.
Simple way to keep this DIY cheap, right?
Or you could go modest, like I did. I opted for a few of his favorite snacks; Cliff bars of course. Then a gift card to take himself out to dinner with friends, and some cash for a night out. I also decided on a nice new coffee tumbler that will work for both hot and cold, that also represents his favorite thing. Subaru!
But you could go all out.
Think about everything that could honestly fit inside of the slippers. A nice scope for his rifle, new camera lens he’s been eyeing. Favorite cigars for some time with the guys. A nice 22 of his favorite beer. Hmm.. what else. You could really take this gift idea over the top!
Any which way you do it, it’s bound to make for a great gift idea.
I did happen to ask my husband about the gift idea since he was going to see this post anyways, and he loved it. He also thought it would be great for our family white elephant exchange.
There are so many different ways you could take this DIY treat slipper idea.
