Have your cake and eat it too with these toddler proof Christmas decorating tips!

You know who loves Christmas decorations? Me. And my twin toddlers.
Last year all I was able to put up was a bare tree and that is not cutting it this year.
To make my Christmas heart happy, I’ve dove into Pinterest to find different ways I could decorate for the holidays, while minimizing the mess my toddlers would make.
And so far, so good! I’ve had most of these decorations up for a while because well, I’m one of those who decorates in November.
It makes my heart happy. Okay?
Christmas decorating is my favorite thing to do. So that’s why I was determined to figure out how to make some decorations happen, even with two little toddlers at home.
Here are my tips for toddler proof Christmas decorating:
Decorate up high
This is obvious, right? Decorate out of reach? Here is what I put together this year for out of reach decorations.

Go plastic or go without
Honestly, I’m opting for without this year. I figured I’d rather just go without over having to pick up and replace ornaments all season long. Instead I went for a garland wrapped around the tree that honestly, I do have to put back up every now and again, but it’s much easier than a bunch of ornaments!

Prelit tree > Unlit tree
Guess what? Those wild toddlers can’t rip off lights from a pre-lit tree! And trust me. They’ll try! I went for it and bought a pre-lit tree this year after the twins trying to pull off the lights last year and am so happy with my decision!

Go wild outside!
My biggest toddler proof Christmas decorating hack? Decorate outside! Not only does it make you look like the best house on the block, but you get to enjoy the decorations someplace where the kids can’t get to them!

Remember, Christmas decorating should bring you joy.
So don’t let your toddlers take that away by ruining your prettily placed decorations day in and out.
Instead, stick to this handful of ideas for toddler proof Christmas decorating and you’ll be set!
